1. What do I get with the suite of U.S. Trading Platforms powered by TD Ameritrade?
You enjoy exclusive access to industry-leading trading applications, offered traditionally in the U.S. through TD Ameritrade and now available in Canada exclusively to TD Direct Investing clients. Whether you prefer to trade on your desktop, through the Web or on the go with your mobile device, our suite of U.S. Trading Platforms is designed specifically for savvy, frequent traders of U.S. equities and advanced options strategies.

4. How do I gain access?
A new U.S. margin account approved for options will be required. Choose from several convenient ways to open a new account:

Once your new U.S. margin account is open and funded, simply contact our Trade Desk. The Trade Desk is available at 1-877-348-6722, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET.

5. How can I trade non-U.S. investments like Canadian stocks, options, bonds and global stocks?

6. What are the system requirements?

U.S. Trading Platforms Desktop

The Desktop software is designed to work on virtually all computers that use Java 2. Before you download the software, please ensure your computer meets the following minimum hardware and operating system requirements.

¹ The desktop software can also potentially run on Linux, Solaris and other Unix variants. However, manual updating of the software is currently required for these systems and TD Direct Investing is unable to provide technical support for these particular operating systems.

² 210MB are required for installation on your PC. The U.S. Trading Platforms Desktop requires only 50MB to operate.

³ "Power Users" are defined as users who use multiple charts at once, use our custom scripting language, or perform complex technical analyses.

We recommend that you use a broadband connection (DSL, cable or faster).

Access from Multiple Locations

All of your personal data are stored securely on our servers. Therefore, you can login and access your account(s) from any computer that has our software installed.

9. What trading hours are available through the U.S. Trading Platforms?

Pre-market trading begins at 8:00 a.m. ET. Regular market hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET. After-hours trading occurs from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET.
